BMW E30 M3 Team Isert
Garage 81 is delighted to present an exceptional example of the iconic BMW E30 M3 Group A, built and developed in period by BMW-Isert using Linder racing components for the International Touring Car (Int. Tourenwagen-Rennen) Series in Europe. The car is accompanied by its all important and original Wagenpass and current FIA Historic Technical Passport.
Originally constructed in 1987 by BMW-Isert with Linder parts for Group A competition car 002 welcomed Period drivers, Dr. Josef Gerold and Claus Duprie, with all race history recorded in the Wagenpass. The car is believed to have competed in Scandinavia after its days in Germany before being converted to Tarmac Rally specification in Southern Ireland, along with lots of its original parts. Finally the car was imported into the United Kingdom along with original Group A Linder components, ready for a rebuild…
Restoration and Specification
The car has been re-shelled using original panels where practical and rebuilt to Matter specification
Key mechanical and technical highlights include:
- Engine: Neil Brown Ltd.
- Gearbox and Differential: J.C. Racing
- Suspension: Cornering Force and Bilstein, professionally set up by Suspension Secrets
- Brakes: A.P. Calipers and Cylinders
- Wheels: Irmler
- Fuel System: Merin 110-litre tank with Bosch pump system
- Fluid, braking, and air jack lines: ATEC
- Ignition: Bosch distributor and coil system (available), coil pack currently installed
Group A components have been re-manufactured and replaced where necessary, with original Linder items retained where humanly possible to insure both the cars originality while also allowing the car to be a very competitive proposition going into 1 of the many events it eligible for.The car has been shaken down on a test day.
To summarise this BMW E30 M3 Group A represents an outstanding example of one of the most successful touring cars of its era. Built and restored to a high standard using authentic components, it is fully compliant for FIA Historic competition and eligible for leading historic touring car events worldwide now including Peter Auto, MRL and historic DTM
